uninvited

these petunias have appeared out of the blue - after i had the soil tilted last autumn, i wanted the lilies-of-the-valley removed and had planted some alliums and irises there... the seeds must have waited in the soil for many years! i couldn't bring myself to destroy them, but they are very vigorous and tend to overwhelm everything - though i must admit that they look pretty in the dark, the white is almost glowing...

  1. Yes, sometimes uninvited guests are the real attraction.

You have witnessed the miracle of 'self-sowing' plants.

Petunias don't do very well in the heat here. They are good in the spring, but they hate the advent of summer. Mine have never 'resown' themselves, so you should consider yourself lucky.

Another fence. Have you considered barbed wire--it's so attractive?

And what about all the snails. Where have they gone? Did the fence deter them? Is it an electric fence? (So many questions)

    1. the fence is there for the ivy, which is still very little - i hope it will survive, because it has been suffocated by petunias :-) my dream is to dress this wall in ivy, but i was told it might be a mistake, because ivy will be hard to manage and start overwhelm everything hmmm

this is the front part of the garden, in front of the house - after i removed the lily-of the valley - not all, as it is the devil, it has roots running at 20-30 cm deep, like a net, and it grows again from every bit... but after i removed most of it and tilled the soil, they disappeared...

    2. maybe it is the heat & humidity petunias don't like, here they handle the heat very well!

  2. Yesterday I saw a lot of them and they are like candels even in the day, little lights of something that arounds us like an exhalation (if this word exists, I know sure to exhale:) )
