i have heard many don't live long here either, it is probably too hot, they tend to dry after a few years... we'll see...
On second thought, they might grow here -- in a shady spot. Loquats grow very well here and they are from Japan -- so there's hope.

i lost the second one, i think, it died :-( i should have planted it in the garden sooner :-(((
